Welcome to the ninth video! In this video, I’ll talk about how to distribute your survey to participants so they can fill it out. I’ll cover the steps you need to take leading up to distribution, how to get your survey link, and, in future videos, I’ll discuss additional methods for sending your survey to people.

Let’s start with getting our survey ready. First, go into “Look and Feel” settings. This is where you can customize the appearance of your survey to make it user-friendly. You can add or remove the CQUniversity logo, insert your own logo, and decide whether to show a progress bar. Participants appreciate seeing a progress bar, as it helps them gauge how much of the survey is left. Also, ensure that question numbers and the back button are turned off for the final version of your survey.

In the “Survey Options” section, turn off the back button to prevent respondents from changing their answers. Also, turn off question numbers to keep the survey clean and professional. You can set your survey to be by invitation only or password-protected if needed. To prevent multiple submissions, enable the “Prevent Ballot Box Stuffing” option. This stops participants from taking the survey multiple times, which is crucial if you’re offering a prize draw. Additionally, enable bot detection to safeguard your survey from automated responses.

Consider how to handle partial completions. If a respondent stops halfway through, they can resume the survey from the same device and browser within a specified time frame. Set this duration to a week, for example. Always record partial responses instead of deleting them. Partial responses can provide valuable insights into potential issues within the survey, such as a specific question causing drop-offs.

Now, let’s get your survey link. Go to the “Distributions” section to find your survey link. This is a reusable link that you can share with participants. In future videos, I’ll show you how to customize this link for specific purposes. For now, copy this anonymous link to distribute your survey.

There are additional distribution options in Qualtrics, such as emailing the survey directly to a list of contacts or generating personal links for individual participants. You can also create a QR code for easy access. However, most users will rely on the anonymous link for distribution.

In future videos, I’ll discuss managing contact lists for follow-up surveys and automating emails directly from Qualtrics. For now, use the anonymous link to email your survey to participants.

That’s it for this video. In the final video of this series, I’ll show you how to close down a survey, download your data, and review what your data looks like. See you in the next video!
